Using the program is fairly simple. With all "extra" features turned off (all check boxes left blank), this program shows the user a blank screen and periodically flashes a number on the screen at a random location. The number displayed will be a number between one (1) and three (3). The user attempts to press the key that matches the number before the number disappears. (Make sure Number Lock is turned ON) At the end of the repetitions, a score showing the number of correct responses will be displayed.

This is somewhat like a very slow paced game where you stare at a blank screen waiting for a number to briefly appear. Sure it looks boring, but the challenge is learning to keep your attention focused. Learning to focus attention is a prerequisite to effective hypnosis. Your score will give you an objective measure of how much your attention wavered. To get an idea of what this looks like start the program, then click on the button that says, "Click here to Begin". Then on the second page Click the button that says, "Click to Start".

All the other features of this program build on this basic exercise. This part of the program remains constant though all the features except the script player. With the script player, the numbers cease to be displayed when the script begins. The idea is to learn to focus and build up to a good score on the basic exercise then add the other features and continue to try to keep a good score.

This is one of those things that is harder to do than it appears. The number will only be visible for about one second. If the user's attention drifts away from the screen, it is likely they will not react before the number disappears. It is also possible they may not even notice a number has been displayed. At the end of the exercise, a score will be displayed so that the user knows how many "flashes" were answered correctly.

The average delay between flashes may be adjusted using the "Base Delay" setting. This is not the exact time between each number it only represents a base maximum time. If the program used regular intervals, the user would develop and internal "clock" and would know when to bring his/her attention back to the program. The actual time between numbers is based on a delay calculation used to increase focus, plus a random length of time so no pattern develops. The default setting for "Base Delay" is 30 seconds. This is a good setting to use until the user becomes comfortable with the program. As experience grows the time can be adjusted up.

The length of the exercise can be adjusted by setting the "Repetitions" setting. (Remember: the program runs for roughly one half the base delay in seconds times the number of "Repetitions".) Be sure to check the run time estimate at the top of the screen for how long the exercise will run. Also, note the running time of "scripts" is not included in the time estimate, as the script will start after the basic exercise. The default setting is 25, ideally one would work up about 50 repetitions.

The length of time the number is displayed can be adjusted using the "Flash Time" setting but one second is fine for all but unusual circumstance.

Running the software with all the "extras" turned off is the stage the most users will want to skip. It requires more mental energy then one would expect. However, this is the stage that actually develops the skills needed to go deeply into a trance. As a side note, this is a wonderful exercise for people who have been labeled as having ADD/ADHD or other disorders related to lack of attention.

First, make sure you have read and understand the program overview. The intent of the program is not to simply hypnotize the user. The main focus of the program is to help make a person a better subject. This is why it is so important to keep the attention focused on and respond to the numbers that will appear on the screen. If you ignore this part of the program and just use it as a script reader, then you are missing the most valuable aspect of the software.

It is recommended that the trainee start out using the program twice a day with all the options turned off for about two weeks. After the initial period the Visual entrainment should be added and used for one week. This should be followed by adding the Audio entrainment, and then used for another week. Finally, the subliminals and then the scripts can be added.

Once you are comfortable with this and are ready to begin, take a few moments to prepare your environment. Turn off music, close windows and doors, turn off your phone ringer. You don't want to be interrupted during the exercise. You may want to shut down chat programs like AIM and MSN, which might pop up while running as well. Find a comfortable chair, take a few deep breaths, and then begin.

Entrainment is basically defined as a synchronization of two or more rhythmic cycles. In this case, we are referring to the synchronization of the most prominent brain waves with visual data. The program will cycle the background screen colors at a particular frequency. The frequency will change as the program runs according to a particular curve that is calculated within the software. This starts to bring the user's brain waves to a particular frequency and changes the mental state. This allows the user to be actively "pulled" into a more relaxed and hypnotic state.

To those unfamiliar, entrainment may sound a bit magical but it is actually a fairly well documented phenomenon. Entrainment is known to cause seizures in people who have epilepsy. If you have epilepsy do not use this program.

If this mode appears harsh on the eyes, try setting the brightness and/or contrast on the monitor to a lower setting. All monitors are a bit different and some may require a bit of adjustment.

The second part of the Visual Entrainment setting (deleted "is") involves moving circles. The circles move in a pattern of ever-decreasing size. This is much like the spiral you often see used in hypnosis. This provides a draw to keep attention tightly focused. The circles move in a slightly "jerky" pattern rather than completely smoothly. This in an intentional effect; the pattern of movement of the circles is adding another layer of entrainment.

Audio Entrainment works much the same way as the visual. The only difference is that sound is used rather then cyclic changes on the screen. When this box is checked a ticking sound will be heard that is synchronized with the rest of the program. Volume can be adjusted as needed. The ticking is most effective when set to a fairly soft volume. Many people find this simple audio entrainment more effective then the visual. Of course, this can be combined with the visual entrainment for best effect.

This setting adds subliminal messages. Subliminal messages are used to assist in training and molding the unconscious mind. Subliminal messages work by repeatedly appearing very briefly on the screen in a barely visible format. Repetition is key for subliminals to be effective. You can think of this somewhat like a small child hearing something over and over in discussions around them. The child, like your subconscious mind, is likely to accept as true those things that it is told repeatedly, even if they aren't said directly to the listener as part of a discussion. In fact, it is largely because they do not have the focus of the conscience mind that they are effective. From the users point of view this is a totally passive part of the training. In fact, they should ignore the messages (if they are even visible) and concentrate on looking for the numbers to appear.

In order to use subliminal messages in this program you need to copy an encrypted subliminal message file into the same directory as the program EXE file and the file must be have the extension ".sublim". Unencrypted files will not work.

Select the desired subliminal messages file from the list on the first screen. You *must* click on the file you want to use, simply scrolling up or down to the file does not select it. The file will become highlighted to show it has been selected. If the file name has a white background, it has not been selected.

This mode is where the program will actually take you though a hypnotic trance. The program will run as it did in with other settings; however, at the end of the normal exercise, it will begin to display lines of text in the center of the screen. The circles, color changes subliminals, etc. will continue although there will be no more numbers appearing at random times. At this point you just relax and focus on the screen. The script will guide the user through the rest of the exercise. Note: The estimated run time does not include the length of the script.

In order to use scripts in this program copy an encrypted script file into the same directory as the program EXE file and the file must have the extension ".hscript". Unencrypted files will not work.

Select the desired script file from the list on the first screen. You *must* click on the file you want to use, simply scrolling up or down to the file does not select it. The file will become highlighted to show it has been selected. If the file name has a white background, it has not been selected.

The program will create a log file called "results.log" in the same directory as program's EXE file. The log file contains the mode the program was run in as well as what settings were used. It also records how many correct responses the user gave out of the total, in the format of "X out of X". There is also a line called "Missed:" in the log file. This line shows which specific flashes the user did not respond correctly to.
